Description

Plates that correspond to George Harvey's paper published in Philosophical Transactions. The manuscript for Harvey's paper is found at PT/17/7. The plates show distribution of magnetism across ships of war. On the reverse of the bundle is a note that reads 'Mr [James] Basire, Engraver, Quality Court, Chancery Lane. From Mr [John Frederick William] Herschel, Dec 15 1824'.

Published in Philosophical Transactions as 'Experimental inquiries relative to the distribution and changes of the magnetic intensity in ships of war'.
